The prices quoted are for the hire of the china & delivery is charged at 45p per mile & the same for collection. We deliver anywhere within the UK & we always try to keep delivery charges as minimal as we can. If you place a large order with us then we are more than happy to discuss delivery costs & options with you.
Our standard china hire is for three days. If your event is over a weekend then the china will be yours from the Friday until the Monday. If you wish to hire items for longer than the stated period, then of course we can try to accommodate you.
All hired items remain the property of Darby & Joan Ltd.
The customer is responsible for all hired items from the time of delivery from Darby & Joan Ltd until the time of collection or delivery back to us.
A non refundable deposit of 50% of the total hire cost is payable at the time of booking.
We also ask for a damage & loss security deposit when you receive your second & final invoice. The amount of your deposit will be discussed with you at the time of booking. We ask for this by separate cheque and this will not be cashed unless items are missing or damaged. If everything is in order, we will either destroy the cheque or return it to you.

The final invoice of the remaining outstanding balance plus the damage deposit is to be paid in full two weeks prior to the event. Payment is to be made via cheque or bank transfer. Please make cheques payable to Darby & Joan Ltd. We will send you our bank details when confirming your booking.
Darby & Joan do reserve the right not to supply any items until full payment is received.
Darby & Joan Ltd will provide you with a detailed inventory of all items delivered & these will have been carefully hand packed in bubble wrap & boxed.
Upon receipt of your delivery from Darby & Joan Ltd, it is the customer’s responsibility to check all the items against the inventory provided & sign for the items. The customer must inspect & let Darby & Joan Ltd know of any missing or damaged items within 24 hours of delivery of the items. If we do not hear from you then the items will be accepted to have been delivered in full & in a clean & undamaged condition.
If there is nobody available to check the items on delivery, the items will be accepted to have been delivered in full & in a clean & undamaged condition.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that Darby & Joan Ltd have adequate access to the venue or the agreed delivery address on the date & time agreed when the booking is made.
The customer is required to scrape all food from plates & cake stands & rinse before packing away in our newspaper, which will be provided. Any liquids are required to be poured from the tea cups & glassware. The customer then is required to pack the items in the boxes used to deliver them. We will have provided either bubble wrap or newspaper for this. Darby & Joan Ltd will then collect the items from the customer at an agreed time & location or the customer can deliver the items back to Darby & Joan Ltd in Derby.
If you hire our linens please make sure that any items are dry & have been shaken free of food before being packed away. If any of our linens are damaged by cigarettes, wax, candle burns or are deeply stained then a replacement cost will be incurred. This is detailed below.
Darby & Joan Ltd will check all hired items within two working days after the event. Any damages or losses will be charged as set out below. The remaining deposit will then be refunded to the customer within ten working days.
If our staff are working with you on your event, they will be responsible for all the packing.
All cancellations must be made in writing or email to Darby & Joan Ltd. Any cancellations made within four weeks of the event will incur 100% charge of all hired items.
Darby & Joan Ltd can accept no responsibility for any losses, injury or damage caused by the use of any of our hired items. We strongly recommend that the customer takes out separate event insurance for your own peace of mind.
A damage & missing item deposit is required when you receive your second and final invoice. The amount depends on your individual order.
Darby & Joan Ltd will add the amount required to your second and final invoice.
The cost of any damaged or missing items will be deducted from the deposit made.
If there are no damaged or missing items, the deposit amount will be returned to the customer in full ten working days.
Four times the hire cost of the item (s).
