If you fancy adding a bit of vintage glamour to your mini bar, how about decanting your spirits or premixed cocktails into vintage cut glass bottles, add mini tags to let people know what’s in them.
We love the idea of using an old vintage mirror to write a welcome message or bar menu on. We’ve used this idea lots for our weddings this year and it creates a great focal point and looks fab.
Stripy straws my friends are still a winner, wrap a little bit of glitter washi tape around them to add a touch of glitz. Adding pretty stirrers into your drinks make it fun and are really easy to make.
A great idea for a wedding or if you’re hosting an engagement party is for the couple to make their own signature drinks or cocktails. Choose your favourite tipple and let everyone in one the fun. For a festive party you could even hold a cocktail making party, for a bit of friendly competition vote for your favourite creation with a bottle of fizz for the winner.
Over to the experts, introducing The Bespoke Bartender

Hello Richard, tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do…
The Bespoke Bartender Company offers a wide range of experienced staff and bar services for the events industry. We cover everything from weddings & special occasions to launch nights & product promotions. The services are tailored to suite the event making The Bespoke Bartender Company one of the most versatile mobile bar companies in the UK today.
What do you enjoy the most about being the bespoke bartender?
I really enjoy the veriety of work we do, whether it’s making colour coordinated cocktails for the launch of some new product or service through to being part of someone’s big day, no two events are ever the same which is great.
What trends have you seen for weddings and parties recently and what do you think will be big in 2014?
Vintage styled weddings are becoming increasingly popular and I hope to see some really fabulously themed weddings in 2014. We’ve seen swing bands and dancers, bunting and hay bails, and even real ale & flair cocktails (provided by The Bespoke Bartender Company of course), so I’m hoping to see much more of that moving forward into 2014.
Any tips for those starting to plan their drinks and alcohol for their wedding?
It’s worth getting it booked in early so it’s one less thing to worry about later, and remember, if a company is good they will be getting book up a year if not two years in advance depending on the date of your wedding. We offer nice simple packages which are easy to digest so it doesn’t have to be a real headache sorting it out. I’d advise using a mobile bar service over DIY or a bar thrown in by caterers, for the simple fact that a bar company specialise in the service of drinks and a slick bar service is key to a good reception.
Have you got any secret recipes to share with us?
I think a lovely alternative to the fabulously popular Comopolitan cocktail is the Rubarb Cosmo! A delicious combination of…
Shaken and served in a chilled martini glass
How about one for the guys?
One of my favourite creations is the Hunting Season, a manly combination of…
Muscavado light brown sugar
Topped with ginger ale
Served in a tall glass with crushed ice
We heard a little something about a butler in the buff, do tell us more…
We now offer an in house topless waitering service, our Bespoke Butlers are the perfect accompaniment to our Create your own cocktail experience or of fantastic cocktail services for hen parties (or even just a night in with the girls). Our butlers are handsome and hunky and come dressed in smart black trousers with white apron, collar, gloves, cloth and a silver service tray. We have ensured that our butler service is classy and sofisticated to ensure that it fits well with our premium bar services.
Thank you so much for sharing Richard. Some great advice and I think we might be shaking up a Rhubarb Cosmo.
What are your favourite party drinks? We’d love to know, also let’s not ignore the butler, he would most certainly make a great addition to a Hen Party wouldn’t he?
