A little something…

bo

Good morning everyone.  Just a quickie and a little bit of a lazy and cheeky post…

We styled a photoshoot along with Susie from Vintage Chic Wedding Fair at The Botanical Gardens last week and were more than a little in love with the amazing dressed supplied by Luxe Bridal.  We are desperate to see the images, so whilst Liezl Croft works her magic on the photographs, we can post a link to her blog which has a few images from the day – Botanical Garden Shoot

1920'2 1930's styled wedding photoshoot, vintage wedding dresses, vintag table settings.

We have met so many mutually supportive, friendly and talented wedding suppliers over recent months, none more so than Becky Butterworth of Butterworth Photography.  She interviewed me for their blog, and you can click here to have a read.  Interview with me

A spreadsheet beckons…can’t put it off any longer. x

A New Year – A New Blog Post

Lifestyle Portrait shoot

Here we are & another year is upon us;  another grand gesture of resolutions made for 2012 - some will be broken before the end of the month I am sure (maybe it will just be too difficult to avoid Rioja & surely life is made sweeter by discount shopping on The Outnet), but there are a couple of Darby & Joan related promises I have made to myself that I am excited about keeping.

One of them is to try & write a blog post every couple of weeks.  This may be too frequent for some of you to bear reading & may click on “hide post” or hit the delete button as soon as you see our name pop up, but others amongst you may have a spare few minutes to catch up with what has been happening with D&J, & for those of you I hope you enjoy looking at images of shoots we have styled & photos of events we have been involved with & maybe getting some ideas & inspiration for your event.  Lastly I will always be name dropping fabulous photographers, stylists, event organisers, cake makers, venues, designers, suppliers & florists that you really can’t live without.

We have been so lucky over the past few months to have worked with such inspiring, helpful, talented & fun people & have been featured in quite a few wedding blogs which is something that we are really proud of for such a young company.

Rather than write a piece for each shoot, here are a few pics from some of them.

Happy New Year everyone.  x

Save the Date Wedding Fair…

save the date oct 2011 019

Sore feet from wearing too high shoes, voice hoarse from talking all day, exhausted from an early start…but over the moon with how today went at the save the date wedding fair with a difference!

Darby & Joan english vintage wedding china hire, add some vintage glamour to your wedding

Darby & Joan caught up with wedding suppliers we regularly work alongside, met some inspirational new companies & people & spent the day talking to brides to be & their families about their impending weddings.  Lydia & Abbi from Save the Date really know how to put an event together; catwalk shows, interactive displays, live music, outdoor entertainment, fabulous catering – all housed at The Roundhouse, one of the most impressive buildings in the county.

Add some vintage glamour to your wedding, vintage styling, vintage china hire

We were showcasing our vintage china & vintage accessories together with promoting our Afternoon Tea Party events (we had a cake trolley filled with cupcakes, scones, rocky road & chocolate dipped strawberries..not much left at the end of the day!)

Darby & Joan provide a bespoke vintage tea party menu, vintage hen parties, vintage garden parties, vintage weddings. Add some chic glamour to your event.

We were so so excited about the event, fingers & everything else crossed that we  are able to work with some of the brides we met on their wedding or help with their hen parties.  (We have already had one provisional booking from the day, which is amazing, that is my kind of bride!!)

Vintage Travel Shoot…

Darby & Joan vintage styled wedding shoot

A day at a stunning hotel in Sheffield, a group of super talented creatives from the wedding industry, a vintage inspired 1040′s wedding shoot idea from Ruth at Sweet Words Stationery and was styled with the help of Chloe from Adore …here is the result…

The shoot was a lot of fun & gave us all lots of opportunity to indulge our love of beautiful table settings – I’m sure you will agree that the photographs are gorgeous.

I hope the dresses, table settings, hair, flowers & styling gives you some inspiration if you are thinking of incoporating some vintage loveliness into your wedding day.  You don’t have to embrace the whole theme wholeheartedly – small, well thought out touches can turn an event into something really special & will give your guests something a little bit different to enjoy & remember.

A pretty fabulous afternoon…

Hello everyone, I am still getting the hang of this blogging lark, so please bear with me if my posts are few & far between!

I had a lovely afternoon yesterday in what I can only describe in my dream house, trying on dream vintage wedding dresses at the newly opened Unforgettable Vintage Bridal Gowns boutique, just outside Leamington Spa.

I had met the two creatives behind the brand, Sisters Rae & Hannah, at the Vintage Chic Wedding Fair in June & we hit if off straight away.  I was bursting to try on some of their beautiful dresses & finally plucked up the courage to spend half an hour in a world of my own, wafting up & down a sweeping staircase in their original vintage, breathtakingly beautiful, bridal gowns.  They took pity on my urge to dress up & invited me for a trying-on session in their boutique so that I may indulge my fantasies more & model for them at the upcoming Vintage Chic Wedding Fair at the Custard Factory, Birmingham on 30th October.  I thought about it for 3 seconds before agreeing!

They had a visit from Lucy Stendall a couple of weeks ago, who is a wonderfully talented wedding & portrait photographer “specialising in good old fashioned sweet love” – I love that quote from her website.  She too was blown away by the dresses, the venue & the warmth of the girls & suggested a photo shoot to showcase all those things…they have asked Darby & Joan to be involved with the project & we will be supplying all of the vintage china, linens, accessories & adding our own ideas & styling to the shoot & I CANNOT WAIT!  I was awake in the early hours this morning jotting down ideas & putting together mood boards, so I am beyond excited.

If any of you lovelies out there are looking for some vintage inspiration then I cannot recommend these two companies enough.  Their service, attention to detail & genuine love of what they do shines through & you will love what they do too.
